Lewisham Dementia Support Hub has launched a new guide for carers in the borough.
The Guide for Dementia Carers in Lewisham gives answers to some of the more common questions that arise when caring for a person with a dementia diagnosis.
Created by our carers’ advisor, the booklet provides information and contact details about the the services and support available for both carers and cared for in the borough of Lewisham.
Subjects covered include: the side effects of medication; getting out into the community; and looking after yourself as a carer.
Carers have reported finding the booklet an invaluable resource to refer to when a query arises.

The Lewisham Dementia Support Hub for people diagnosed with dementia and their carers is now a year old. The Hub is a local partnership consisting of MindCare Dementia Support (part of Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich Mind), Sydenham Garden, Carers Lewisham and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
Since February 2019, Lewisham Dementia Support Hub has provided a range of services including:
- Personalised support planning for individuals
- Individual support and workshops for carers
- Horticulture, arts and reminiscence groups
- Referrals and signposting to groups, activities and services
Lewisham Dementia Support Hub has been an active member in the Dementia Action Alliance and is working with other alliance members towards making Lewisham a more dementia friendly borough.
